Healthy Protein “Cookie Dough”

This delicious, healthy protein cookie dough substitute is easy to make, low in sugar, gluten free, dairy free, low-carb, and of course delicious. #healthysnack #cookiedough #guiltypleasureWhen I was younger, I had the hugest sweet tooth. No joke, in high school I would eat Oreo cookies covered in chocolate frosting and wash it down with kool-aid. Like most people I know, my tastes have changed as I’ve grown older and healthier. Now I would much rather have a nice dark chocolate or glass of wine most nights. Sometimes I think we all want to break the rules and have a little treat though. Let’s talk about the ultimate guilty pleasure – cookie dough! I still love a nice glob of gooey cookie dough. We all do, right? Healthy Protein Cookie Dough

This three ingredient cookie dough snack is high in protein, low in sugar, super yummy, and made with items that many of us already have in our pantries. It’s vegan, gluten free, and customizable to meet your tastes and dietary needs. It’s one of my favorite night time snacks for when I need a sweet treat that still has some nutritional value.

Recipe

  • 1 tablespoon peanut butter
  • 1/2 scoop chocolate protein powder
  • 1/2 tablespoon flax seed meal
  • 1-2 tablespoons of water (to desired consistency)
  • Optional mix ins – this is the part that makes it a real treat. Most of the time I use dark chocolate chips. Sometimes I will use M&M’s, but that adds quite a bit of sugar. Oats are a great add in if you want to make a thicker cookie dough and don’t worry about cutting carbs. Nuts are the best choice if you want high protein and low sugar. Raisins are also a yummy “smarter” choice.

Just put all of the ingredients into a bowl or cup and mix together!
