Does anyone else think that sometimes modern technology makes us feel inadequate as parents? We all see posts from other moms and dads of their perfect homes, their smiling kids, and their beautiful lives. It’s about time that we show the internet what a day in the life of a parent really looks like. With some help from friends and family, here’s my take on #transPARENTtuesday.
The first image here shows a couple of pictures that my husband and I sent to each other last week. I came out of the shower to my son chewing on his dresser drawer..and then crying about it. Clearly he’s teething.
If you’re feeling bad that you didn’t pick up your home this morning, here is a picture of what my bed looked like when I got home from work yesterday.
Here are a few images from our babysitter Sarah’s house.
These are the rooms that other people see:
These are the places that we don’t see:
Sarah says:
So! You’re right!!! We clean what we can, when we can but there are ALWAYS places in people’s homes where we stuff, throw and hide things away🙈.
And to further embarrass myself, when EVERYTHING is clean, it’s because we throw things we aren’t using in the basement, thinking one day we will have time to sort and goodwill!!! I can’t believe I’m showing you this!”
Thanks for sharing, Sarah, because now I’m showing the whole world via the internet. 🙂
A friend of mine, Kendall, sent me a couple of images that show the difference between little girls and little boys!
Our cousin Holly sent me these snapshots of a day in the life of a toddler mom.
Fellow mom blogger Robin from The Mama Playbook sent this one over.
Mark over at Thoughts of a First Time Dad has a blog full of parenting honesty.
I get a kick out of this picture that shows the reality of wearing/carrying a teething baby!
I also love this snapchat that he shared!
My Peanut also sleeps with his eyes half open pretty frequently.
Here’s an added bonus for those of you who are excited for your home to get neater as your kids grow up. My mom sent me a photo from my 18-year-old brother’s room on vacation.
Do you have any images that show what life in the day of a parent really looks like? I would love to see them in the comments below! I may use them for another #transPARENTtuesday post. 🙂

Agree babies often look liked passed out drunk people. They also look like little drunk people when toddling around unsteadily shouting at people and knocking things over with abandonment. #SharingtheBlogLove
Haha! We have just hit the squealing and rolling around on the floor phase.
Thanks for reading. 🙂
Oh my, been there and done that! Some girls are neat and then some boys are neat, just depends 🙂 Thank you for attending the #WednesdayAIMLinkParty. I shared your post on Facebook, Google+, and Twitter.
That is true. These two cuties just happened to fit the stereotypes. 🙂
Thanks for reading and for sharing!
Oh God…the cheerios!!! I bet they were finding them for days! Love this idea of showing real life! Thanks for linking up with #TwinklyTuesday

My son does that too…it’s not so nice now that he has teeth!
