We all see 1000’s of images everyday of cute smiling children, happy families, gorgeous home decor, and everything inbetween. So what about those days that your baby is teething, your family just isn’t happy, every room in your house has been hit by the toddler tornado, and you can’t find a coffee cup that is big enough to handle life? Let’s be real – we all have those days. This post is meant to take a transparent look into the everyday work of parenthood. We all struggle…so why not join together and laugh at each other’s struggles?
(Back in April, I shared the first #transparenttuesday post. You can check it out here.)
Now here’s a little transparent look into some very real parenting moments.
Leah at Bless This Happy Mess sent over their first attempt at a family photo session.
You should also check out this funny post full of quotes directed at her little girl.
She also sent over this not unfamiliar example of what happens when you give your child what he/she wants.
Here are just a few bloopers from the last few months of attempting to take those “cute” monthly stickers pictures with our Peanut.
Emily at Moving Through Momhood has a post trying to answer the question – Why cant they throw the boxes away? Good question, Emily! Maybe I should write one – Why does my husband set down the junk mail?
The picture below shows a current favorite activity of Peanut’s…pulling everything out of every cabinet that he can get his little hands into.
Amy from Discovering Whimsy takes embracing the mess even one step farther. Why not have a little fun with it? 😉
Ashley at While Lucy Sleeps used to keep a very tidy house. Now she has had to learn to live with the messes if she wants to enjoy her family time (you and me both, girl!). She sent over this photo of the aftermath of a play date.
I love this image from Once Upon a Mom that illustrates the magic that the zoom and crop features hold for an Instagram post.
Amanda at Mummy Confessions shared a whole post about why she is happy that he laundry room is a disaster. You can check it out here.
This image from The Salty Mamas demonstrates the reality of motherhood…right when you think you have got it all together, you go and move a carseat and find a big ole pile of mess.
There are days when Peanut fights his naps all day. He continues playing and we end up with a crabby little monster at night. Somedays he tries to fight the nap…but he just can’t win.
Kristina at Messy Tired Love recently shared this one on Instagram. She is a work at home mom, and sometimes this is the environment that she has to work in. Giggling little ones is a messy living room is a better office than many people have!
There are times that I love to workout with my baby. Then there are times that I feel like I have a feisty, evil trainer.
Kermilia at The Millennial SAHM had an adorable cake smash with her little guy. It doesn’t look like he had as much fun as she did.
Jaimie at Little Bear Lactation has mastered the art of balancing work with nursing…just do both!
Kristin at This Wife and Mommy Life told me about the winner of a morning that she had “I woke up to this… this was my morning… 2 baths… tub scrubbed… floor scrubbed… crib scrubbed… sheet and blanket in the trash… mattress pad and towels washed… room aired out… new sheet and blanket… needless to say I ran out of steam and patience (and sense of smell) early this morning.”
Yikes! I hope you had some time to drink your coffee and cry on the couch after that! We all feel for you mama.

This is so funny and so true. My house has never been messier and dirtier but I wouldnt want to change it for the world. I have shared this post with my mom friends xo
Sometimes you have to sacrifice your home being clean for your own sanity! Then again, sometimes my house gets so messy that it drives me crazy! Haha. It’s a fine line.
I’m glad you enjoyed. Thanks for stopping by. 🙂
Pff. That post playdate picture is nothing compared to what I had earlier. XD I guess I should have taken a picture. Luckily, my mom friend was nice and helped clean up before she left. 🙂 I’m so glad we didn’t do the cake smash thing. That is probably about how ours would have turned out because neither of our girls were into their treats! lol #fabfridaypost
Haha. I’m sure a lot of mamas have seen worse disasters! 🙂
Thanks for stopping by.
I think it’s amazing all the things we parents do in our lives once kids appear. I love seeing these “real life” moments. Makes what I (and my family) am going through every day seem less abnormal. Messy homes, never ending laundry and crying kids are really what life is about when you’re in the thick of it. Thank goodness for the ability to crop and edit photos! 😉

It seems so rough…and exhausting…and somedays it seems like our messes are just the worst. The truth is that we all go through it! <3
Thanks for stopping over. 🙂
This is so funny! My boys are much older now but I vividly remember moments like this!… and still have a hard time getting anyone to throw away boxes or empty toilet paper rolls.
I still have to work on those habits with my husband. *eye roll*
We all have our flaws. Haha. 🙂
lol! This is so so very true! The boxes! My words – my kids fights over empty boxes! lol! Thanks so much for linking up with us on #FabFridayPost
Haha. Boxes are the best! until they start piling up. 🙂
This made my day. Such a true post! #FabFridayPost
Thanks for stopping over! 🙂
Great blog. Really enjoyed looking at everyone’s thoughts on the reality of parenting! Very funny. #ThatFridayLinky
Thank you! Glad you can relate. 🙂
Totally spot on love this Thank you for linking to #ThatFridayLinky Please come back next week
Thanks for stopping over! See you Friday. 🙂
I love these. So true. The nap one is very cute. Never move the car seats! I’m all about honesty in parenting so these are right up my street. Thanks for linking up to #FridayFrolics
For me, it’s the appliances and the couches. If I don’t move them, then the mess won’t bother me, right? 😉
I am somewhat convinced that we can solve for world hunger with the lifting of the car seats. I mean, really! #FabFridayPost xoxo
