If you are like me, and want to have a clean home all the time, this post is for you.
I have broken all of the chores that need to be done on a weekly basis into a “Weekly Cleaning List” that assigns specific tasks to specific days of the week. It also includes the items that need to be done daily. I find that doing a few chores everyday is much more efficient and feels like a lot less work than going on long cleaning binges.

You can customize this list to fit the needs of your home. I suggest that you print the list, put it inside of a sheet protector, and attach it to your refrigerator with a dry erase marker. That way it will be easy to see and you can keep track of your chores by checking them off.
Now that you have a plan of attack, let’s be realistic for a minute. Does it really matter what day of the week I vacuum my living room floors? Of course not! If I am having a lazy Monday night, I just do Monday’s chores on Tuesday. The important thing is to make sure that everything (or nearly everything) on your list is done each week at some point.
I did not include a place in this chart for things that need to be done monthly. You can add those items into your list on the blank lines with a dry erase marker.
Here are some of the things that I try to do once per month:
- Wash all bedding
- File and sort documents (I keep a “to sort” folder on my desk)
- Wash shades, blinds, and windows
- Dust light fixtures and ceiling fans
- Clean out trash cans
- Wipe light switches and door knobs
The important thing to remember to do something small everyday. This helps to avoid that “oh no, my house is a disaster… how did this happen?” overwhelm feeling. I hope that this printable weekly cleaning list will help you bring some cleanliness and organization back into your home. 🙂
